About
The Midwest is built for dreamers, and no one knows this better than hip-hop group, Skool’d. With their unique blend of old school hip-hop, funk, and more contemporary hip-hop, one listen to any Skool’d track will have you identifying influences ranging anywhere from A Tribe Called Quest and Notorious B.I.G to Jay-Z and Kid Cudi.
Skool’d began in late 2010 and in March of 2011, they released their first EP titled, ‘All That Matters’. Skool’d spent the rest of the year promoting their name and performing with many artist’s such as J.Cole, Big K.R.I.T, Chiddy Bang, Timeflies, Hoodie Allen, Mod Sun, Machine Gun Kelly, Nappy Roots, The Dean’s List, Gilbere Forte, Slick Rick, and many more. Spending months of 2012 in the studio, Skool’d releases their new nine track project titled, ‘The Departure’ which features sampling from Phantogram, Magnetic Man, Nina Simone, Fun, and many more. ‘The Departure’ is available for FREE download online.
As a listener, it’s difficult not to identify with a group of aspiring musicians whose only goal is to get their music and ideas out to anyone who can relate. As difficult as modern pop culture has made it, Skool’d is a group searching for substance and authenticity in a world where fame and fortune is the goal, and music merely the means to get there.
Skool’d is:
